The author, S. Cohen, served in the 82nd Infantry Division during World War I. During WWII the 82nd Division was reactivated as the 82nd Airborne.

I have been unable to discover much about the identity of Mr. Cohen except what he reveals in the forward to his book.

Some of the chapters were published in Yiddish language newspapers in the early 1920's. This book was published in 1923. To my knowlege this is the first time that this book has been translated into English.
